Truman Times - September
Fire Evacuation and Lockdown Drills
Dear Parents,
Per the Commissioner of Education's regulations, school districts are now required to notify parents/guardians when these drills will be taking place.
Throughout the school year, we must conduct 12 drills, including six fire drills and two lockdown drills between September 1 and December 31, and two fire drills and two lockdown drills after January 1.
We are planning our fire drills for the following weeks:
● September 9 - 13
● September 16 - 20
● September 23 - 27
Our lockdown drills are scheduled to occur in the following weeks:
● October 14 - 18
● November 11 - 15
Should inclement weather prevent us from holding fire drills during the planned weeks, we will send a follow-up notification with the rescheduled dates before conducting them.
We are committed to the safety and security of our buildings and ensuring that students, faculty, and staff know how to respond in an emergency. While these are just drills, we understand that you or your child(ren) may have questions or concerns. Feel free to contact Truman Elementary School to speak with an administrator, or a member of our mental health staff if you need support.
As a reminder, in the event of an actual emergency, closure, or any event that might impact the school day, we will use our notification system (robocall, text, and email) to provide timely updates and information.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Truman Elementary School
