Our Boys modified soccer team was recognized for an act of kindness and humility by Depew, an opponent they played earlier in the season.
The Depew Athletic Director notified us that Coach Abraham Ahmed and his athletes showed great sportsmanship, integrity and compassion toward the Depew Boys modified soccer team during a league game this season. Lackawanna was up 6-0 and, recognizing their opponent's struggle, finished out the game with humility and encouraging words for their opponents, resulting in both teams walking away with a newfound respect for one another.
In turn, Depew invited our team to join them for a day of fun at Sahlen's Sports Park, where together they enjoyed a skills clinic, scrimmage on the indoor turf, snacks and new friendships.
Thank you Coach Ahmed and athletes for demonstrating what we expect from our Steelers both on and off the field!
