Dear Families and Neighbors,
I have been in constant communication with Mayor Iafallo and the City's Commissioner of Public Works, and my determination for school on Monday, 11/21/22 and Tuesday, 11/22/22 is to keep us closed.
The City has done a commendable job with their workers, and they needed to hire additional outside contractors too. Even with everyone working 24 hours over the past few days, our streets are still not fully passable and many still need to be cleared for the first time. Considering our school equipment is unable to handle this type of storm, we will be using the same contractors that the City is using once they fully clear our City streets. That is hours to days away from those contractors getting to the schools to be cleared.
Please be aware that Monday and Tuesday are true SNOW DAYS, and no remote/virtual instruction will take place! I did not want to add to anyone's burden by having virtual school, while we all are trying to dig out from this storm! Please concentrate on getting your immediate family squared away, while also helping other family members and your neighbors.
On Wednesday, Clerical, Administration and CSEA workers should report to work.
Enjoy your full week off and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Thanks,
Keith Lewis
Superintendent of Schools
