During a recent visit to Mrs. Lynch's 3rd grade class, students were seen hard at work during their recent English Language Arts (ELA) lesson, showcasing the power of small group instruction and a differentiated learning approach. Each group focused on a targeted activity designed to support literacy development at their level.
One group participated in a Heggerty phonemic awareness lesson, strengthening their foundational reading skills through engaging, hands-on practice with 3rd grade Interventionalist Ms. Harling. Another group worked with Mrs. Lynch on sequencing a story, building comprehension by identifying key events and organizing them in order. Meanwhile, a third group worked independently using iPads and the Reading A-Z app, applying reading strategies through interactive texts tailored to their reading levels.
This approach not only keeps students actively involved but also allows teachers to meet each learner where they are, ensuring every child has the support they need to grow and succeed.
