This week's staff highlight recognizes LMS Teacher, Kyle Merrifield. Read Kyle's bio below!
"My name is Kyle Merrifield and I am in my 3rd year teaching Technology at Lackawanna Middle School. I originally went to school for engineering before realizing that teaching was where I was meant to be. My class is aimed to give students a variety of experiences involving technology- from learning the basics of how to code and program to hands on projects such as marble roller coasters and balloon-powered cars.
I believe it is important for all students to get a taste of the discipline at a young age because it may help them realize that they want to pursue a technology or engineering pathway or degree later on. I love seeing how proud the students are of the work that they do and how excited they are when they do well on a project.
Aside from teaching technology, I love being involved in extracurricular activities such as running the karaoke club, planning and putting on PBIS events such as the students vs staff basketball game, and watching our LCSD students at sporting events."
