Inside Ms. Verstreate's fifth-grade classroom, clusters of students are reading, writing, and discussing stories in ways tailored just for them. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all lesson—it's small group ELA instruction, a teaching method that’s helping each child make bigger strides in reading and comprehension.  This week's skills included identifying abstract nouns, decoding and encoding words, and identifying the main idea and key details in a text.
