Students gather in front of Martin Road Elementary for Walk-A-Thon

It was a picture-perfect Fall day for our annual Martin Road Elementary Fall Walk-a-thon! This healthy tradition was a huge success with our physical education teachers, Mr. Comunale, Mr. Finch and Ms. Gonsiorek, helping to lead the charge for each grade level by discussing healthy habits and warming up the students with a variety of stretches. The sun was shining as the students lapped Martin Road's campus 3 times, equaling one mile of walking. Students were able to walk with parent volunteers and were treated to apples and water at the end of the walk.

Our Fall Walk-a-thon also incorporates our PTA's annual Coin Drive. Each day, students are encouraged to bring in specific coins on each day. Students who participated in Dollar Day were entered into a drawing to win a Chuck E Cheese gift card. There was one student winner from each grade level.

The grade level that brought in the most money also won a treat during lunch! This year's winners were our third graders!

This year's total donations were:

Grade 2 - $171.96
Grade 3 - $336.63
Grade 4 - $200.43
and Grade 5 - $164.69 for a total of $870.71, which goes on to support Martin Road's future Health and Wellness initiatives.

Way to go Martin Road!
