In recognition of Family Literacy Month, third grade students in Mrs. Meegan's ENL class had the opportunity to practice their English speaking and reading skills when 5th grade peers, and Lackawanna's SRO Keith Kwiatkowski recently visited the classroom. Students read books they created. They also had the opportunity to ask Officer Kwiatkowski questions about himself and what it is like being a police officer. Offering students these real-world scenarios to practice their language skills provides students with confidence and assurance as they learn the English language.
