Martin Road Elementary School was awarded a $1,000 grant to purchase fitness equipment or supplies to enhance their wellness programming. The school was awarded this grant for their participation in the Play 60 and Fitness for Kids Challenge, sponsored by the Buffalo Bills, the Independent Health Foundation and the America Heart Association. A variety of recess equipment was purchased for the students to enjoy outdoors. Currently, the students are in the second week of this year's Play 60 Challenge. Students are encouraged to log 60 minutes of physical activity in their Play 60 notebook from Oct. 2 through Oct. 29. Martin Road Elementary has been a participating school in this program for 10 years.
Pictured with the equipment are third grade students Omar Ahmed, Hnaya Alhajjahi, and William Clark.
