Students at Martin Road Elementary School ended September on a healthy note by participating in the school's annual Fall Walk-A-Thon. Students, teachers and parent volunteers were challenged to walk one mile around the outside of the school building. After their walk, students enjoyed a healthy snack and a very special visit from a fire-breathing friend! The Fall Walk-A-Thon also served as a fundraiser for the school's PTA through a daily coin drive. Our students raised almost $800!
As we move into October, Martin Road Elementary's next healthy initiative is the Play 60 Challenge, sponsored by the Buffalo Bills, Independent Health and the American Heart Association. The goal of this challenge for students is to have 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Students will track their participation in their Play 60 student notebook. The Play 60 Challenge runs from October 2 through October 29.
