Veggie Van coming to Lackawanna this summer

Veggie VanThe Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County will be bringing healthy food options to four locations in the City of Lackawanna this summer!

As part of the New York State Creating Healthy Schools and Communities initiative, the Veggie Van will be available for residents on Wednesdays from July 10 through Sept. 26, 2019. The Veggie Van is a mobile farmers’ market, offering plenty of fresh and nutritious food options for purchase.

The daily schedule for the Veggie Van is as follows:

10-11 a.m. – Baker Victory Services, 790 Ridge Road (rear) at Baker Alley

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Lackawanna Senior Center, 230 Martin Road

1-2 p.m. – Memorial Field Parking Lot, 550 Ridge Road, next to the Lackawanna Library

2:30-3:30 p.m. – Taggart Park / Lackawanna Municipal Housing Authority (LMHA), 135 Odell St.

The Veggie Van will not be available from July 31 – Aug. 4 in Lackawanna, as it will be at the Niagara County Fair. The van accepts EBT, Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks, Double Up Food Bucks and cash. For the Double Up Food Bucks program, you may present your SNAP benefits card and purchase $10 in food to receive another $10 in free fruits and vegetables.
