Students with dogTuesdays are a special day in the Harbor Room at Lackawanna Middle School. Volunteers from the SPCA bring their therapy dogs to interact with students, bringing along the unconditional love of dogs, and help students cope with their current situations.

This is the second year Lackawanna Middle School has teamed up with Paws for Love, thanks to parent coordinator Judy Faircloth, guidance counselor Marisa Chini and Special Education teacher Sara Zahn.

Paws for Love provides students the opportunity to read to animals without the pressure, and allows group discussions that support the health and wellness of all students. Topics have included dog safety tips, loss and grief, abuse, history of SPCA, pet care, foster care, adoption, volunteering and dog breeds/personalities.

Teachers can sign up individual students or classes for a visit, but all students are invited after-school on Tuesdays to hang out with a furry friend and build friendships! Sign-up for students are available outside the Harbor Room.
