""Ms. Szymanski's fourth-grade class at Martin Road Elementary School was wondering just how they could help to make the world a better place. In March, they began thinking about things that they could do in their community.

They had been learning about the dangers of plastic in the oceans and how it was affecting the animals. They had also talked about the needs of people less fortunate than themselves. Out of these conversations, they decided to recycle bottles and cans and then to save the money in order to purchase toiletries for the homeless.

After two months of recycling, the class earned $204! They used this money and purchased the supplies for the homeless. The supplies were given to the Garden of Love at St. Paul's Cathedral in downtown Buffalo, where they will be given directly to the people who need them most.

From small acts of kindness and the thinking of others, little ripples of good will echo throughout the entire community.
