Officials with collection boxesRose Sklepik, of Steel City Church, collaborated with Martin Road Elementary School to provide Christmas gifts and a holiday meal for families in need in the Lackawanna community.

Megan Alimonti, school counselor, and Kymberly Lodge, school social worker, worked together with Martin Road Elementary staff to collect donations for an annual Martin Road Holiday Drive that provides toys for each child in low-income families within the school.

Steel City Church graciously offered to sponsor a holiday meal for each family referred for the Martin Road Holiday Drive. In addition, Steel City Church coordinates a program called "Boxes of Hope," for which several additional Martin Road families applied and were able to receive gifts for the children in the household as well as a holiday meal.

Through the two different programs, 21 Martin Road families benefited, including 54 children, as well as several other families in the Lackawanna community! Martin Road Elementary and Steel City Church are looking forward to further collaborations in years to come!
