Lackawanna sophomore attends state leadership seminar
Carrie Bellaus, a sophomore at Lackawanna High School, was nominated to attend the 2018 Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) state leadership seminar.
This year’s seminar was held at the University of Rochester in June. Carrie was chosen as Lackawanna's 2018 HOBY ambassador for her leadership skills in the school and community.
HOBY is one of the oldest and most prominent youth leadership organizations in the world. The organization was founded by the late actor Hugh O’Brian after spending nine inspirational days working and volunteering with Dr. Albert Schweitzer, the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner. HOBY’s mission is to inspire youth to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation, which will impact their local community as well as their global community.
