Mercy Ambulatory Care Center Emergency DrillP-TECH HOPE students participated in a region-wide mock emergency disaster drill on October 6 at Catholic Health’s Mercy Ambulatory Care Center in Orchard Park. The drill simulated what to do in the event of carbon monoxide poisoning, a condition frequently seen in WNY healthcare facilities during the winter months. Students served as "patient actors" during the drill and observed firsthand the procedures of an actual emergency event.
Healthcare facilities across Western New York conducted emergency response drills on this day. The drills help ensure the facilities are adequately prepared to meet the community’s needs and provide high-quality care in the event of an actual emergency.
