A Farewell Message From the Superintendent
This past school year was bittersweet for me as I planned my move into the next phase of life - retirement. The district will hire Keith Lewis as the interim superintendent in my absence. Keith and I worked closely this year to provide a smooth transition at the superintendent's level, while continuing efforts to improve the District.
Some of the major undertakings throughout my tenure include two P-TECH awards, which allow participating students to receive their associate's degree free of charge. In addition, the District is fully committed to our five-year strategic plan, which is the roadmap that will focus on continual District improvement. Our $27 million capital project remains on schedule. Shortly, you will see two new secure entrances designating the Middle School and High School. This campus will see major changes completed in the summer of 2019. Our work with PLC will carry on at all buildings as administrators and teachers continue to hone their skills in an effort to improve student achievement.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that it has been an honor to serve as the superintendent of the Lackawanna Public Schools for the last five years. I am proud of the accomplishments of my administrative team, faculty and staff who work very diligently every day on behalf of our students. I am confident that all of our hard work will continue and will be sustained for many years to come. I am certain that the Lackawanna Public Schools are headed in the right direction.
In closing, I would like to thank all my partners and the community at large for their continued support of the students and District.
